Last season we did our weekly rookie quarterback tracker, but with only one taken in the first round in 2022, we’ve moved onto another highly coveted position. This season we’ll keep up with all six first-round wide receivers and track their progress throughout the year. In Week 1, we’ve already seen some of these guys impact their new teams positively. The one exception on the list for at least the first few weeks of the season will be Detroit Lions No. 1 pick, Jameson Williams, from Alabama. Williams tore his ACL in last year’s National Championship game but is on track to make his debut for the Lions this season. Let’s see how this year’s crop of rookies stacks up. Here's one more reason to never, ever, ever let your kids near anything in a fraternity: this godawful email from an active member of the Georgia Tech Phi Kappa Tau frat, titled "Luring your Rapebait". It goes downhill from there. Total Frat Move has the full email, which you can read here. The rapey-but-seriously-don't-rape-wink-wink guide starts out innocently enough. The writer, name redacted here, sets out to educate his "chods" about how to mack and succeed at parties. All bold emphasis added: For anytime throughout the party… If you are standing by yourself at any point, YOU ARE OUTTA HERE!!! If you are talking to a brother of your pledge brothers when there are girls just standing around, YOU ARE OUTTA HERE!!! Echoes of our hero, deranged Sor…
We had an awards show last night, and it went much better than many of us thought it would. There were some good jokes! Clark The Cub was there! Daniel Radcliffe stole the show! We’re all still sort of drunk! Anyway, if you did not get to attend the ceremony or watch the proceedings on Facebook, we recorded the whole shebang for posterity. Start with Jezebel culture editor Julianne Escobedo Shepherd’s red carpet show. There were so many amazing looks. Everything was amazing: And now for the show itself (a highlight reel of sorts is at the top of this post; here’s the full, complete show as broadcast): If we look weird it’s because it was 5,000 degrees in that damn venue. And here is the list of winners: Sportsperson of the Year: Jim Tomsula Best Highlight: Jose Bautista…
What could possibly make this balk more perfectly Astros? The fact that it made the game 7-0, maybe. The Astros' rotation is sort of a mess. On Saturday, the putrefied left arm of Erik Bedard turned in its longest outing of the season—five innings. He was relieved by former-perfect-game-thrower Philip Humber, who pitched so poorly he was DFAed after the game. Jordan Lyles didn't fare much better on Sunday, getting knocked around for eight runs in four innings. The most bemusing was the balk that scoring Elvis Andrus, who'll take it. You can almost pinpoint the moment Lyles realizes none of this matters, and his soul dies. (Gif made by Drew Sheppard, who's also responsible for t hat great Yu Darvish gif last month.) …
Before he was installed by the electoral college as Supreme Grand Primate Of THE GREAT UNRAVELING, Donald Trump was just one of the more poignant accounts on Twitter. There was nothing sympathetic about him, really, because there has never been anything sympathetic about him. He has been the same way, and locked into the same excruciating public performance of Rich Guy Whom Has Sex A Lot since 1985. But before he was in charge of peevishly barfing gold leaf onto our great democratic experiment, Trump spent his days peevishly barfing gold leaf onto the internet, keening about his golf empire and live-tweeting episodes of Access Hollywood—he had a lot of romantic advice for Robert Pattinson—and belching woundedly about his impenetrable decades-long feuds with, like, Bette Midler. All Do…
data-mm-id=”_oprpye4ej”>Kyle Rudolph is pretty upset right now. The Minnesota Vikings tight end took to Twitter on Wednesday to report that a media member had sold his receiving gloves on eBay. They were the gloves he used during the Vikings' dramatic wild-card win over the New Orleans Saints this weekend. Rudolph alleges the unnamed media member had requested the gloves for a charity benefit, but instead had sold them for a profit. The tight end — who caught the game winning touchdown in Sunday's game — agreed to give up the gloves for a good cause and even signed them. Here's what Rudolph had to say:I saw this.. it’s disappointing. A member of the media in the locker room after the game asked if he could have my gloves for a charity benefit, so I said of course and…
data-mm-id=”_b1g6o31lb”>Drew McIntyre finally did it. Nearly 13 years after his debut with the WWE, McIntyre finally realized his dream of winning the WWE championship by defeating Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 36. It was a long and winding road for McIntyre, who was once dubbed "The Chosen One" by Vince McMahon before falling out of favor and leaving WWE. McIntyre topped Lesnar in the main event of the second night of Wrestlemania 36 Sunday night in a brutal match that lasted less than five minutes. Both men kicked out of each other's finishing moves multiple times before McIntyre landed several "claymore kicks" and pinned the dominant champion.I dreamed a broken dream, and made it come true. I made it for you ? #WrestleMania pic.twitter.com/kHd0x7ffLq— Drew …
data-mm-id=”_mempktnqe”>Russell Wilson, who has never once received even a vote for the NFL's Most Valuable Player, started off the 2020 season scalding hot. The last two weeks? Not so much. After tossing 13 touchdown passes in the first three games, Wilson has thrown only two touchdowns in the last two games with four interceptions in the same span. The Seahawks are on a two-game losing streak, and it feels like his chances to win MVP are quickly slipping away. He'll probably break that voteless streak, but Aaron Rodgers firmly holds the lead for the award at this point. However, there is one Kyler Murray down in Arizona who would like to make his case before the season is out. Murray, who has thrown for 2,375 yards and 18 touchdowns to seven interceptions while running for …
