Germany should be proud to have Sane, says Tah

Leroy Sane is the future of Germany s national team and they should be proud to have him available, Bayer Leverkusen s Jonathan Tah has said.

Manchester City star Sane has enjoyed a superb season under Pep Guardiola, winning the EFL Cup in February and looking almost certain to become a Premier League champion.

The 22-year-old, who joined City from Schalke in 2016 for a reported £37million, is expected to play a key role for Germany when they defend the World Cup in Russia this year.

Tah, a team-mate of Sane s at youth level and with the senior international side, says Germany are lucky to have him.

For sure, this is the future, he told Omnisport when asked about Sane and Germany s top young talents. I think Germany should be proud to have players like …

Dinamo Zagreb secure Henriquez loan

Dinamo Zagreb have secured the services of Angelo Henriquez on loan from Manchester United, with an option to make the move permanent.

The Chilean, who has three caps for his country, signed for United from Universidad in his homeland two years ago.

He failed to make an impact at Old Trafford, however, and is yet to make an appearance for the first team.

After a brief loan spell to Wigan Athletic during the 2012-13 season, the 20-year-old spent last term in Spain with Segunda Division outfit Real Zaragoza, scoring six times in 25 appearances.

Currently leading the Croatian top flight with a perfect record after four matches, Zagreb face Petrolul Ploiesti in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League play-off clash a week on Wednesday.

And Henriquez…

Benteke perfect Falcao replacement, claims Courtois

Thibaut Courtois believes Belgium team-mate Christian Benteke would be the ideal replacement for Radamel Falcao at Atletico Madrid.

Benteke had a terrific first season in the Premier League, scoring 19 goals for an Aston Villa side that staved off relegation.

His performances have seen him linked to several suitors, with fellow Premier League sides Liverpool and Arsenal thought to be keeping tabs on the striker s availability.

And with Atletico in the market for reinforcements to fill the void left by the 34-goal Falcao, Courtois believes Benteke is a perfect option.

He is a very strong centre-forward, tall, but very good technically and skilful with the ball at his feet, Courtois told AS.

I believe he would be a great signing for Atletico. D…

Evra criticises French football fans

France left-back Patrice Evra on Tuesday lamented the unbelievable attitude of certain sections of the French public following abuse from the terraces during recent internationals.

The under-fire French are still reeling from their Euro 2008 flop when they failed to get past the first round and coach Raymond Domenech has come in for particular criticism as he tries to revive their World Cup fortunes with a win in Kaunas against Lithuania in 2010 qualifying on Saturday.

The two teams then meet again on April 1 at the Stade de France in Paris, a venue where fickle French fans have often barracked their own team despite winning their only global crown on the same pitch in 1998 and reaching the World Cup final under Domenech in 2006.

In any case, we are always play…

United´s parent company posts £44.8 mln loss

Manchester United s parent company have posted a 44.8-million-pound pre-tax loss for the financial year ending June 2008 as debt repayments continue to take their toll.

The loss takes Red Football Joint Venture Ltd s overall debt to 649.4million, despite an operating profit of 80.4 million pounds over the same period.

That profit represents an improvement of five million pounds on the previous year, achieved partly thanks to United s triumph in the Champions League final last May.

The figures were released by Companies House on Thursday and show that while United s debt remains a concern, their day-to-day business model is strong.

Increased TV revenues and sponsorship deals with Saudi Telecom, Diageo, Budweiser and the Seoul Metropolitan Government show …

There were no people here – Ljungberg underlines Arsenal difficulties

Freddie Ljungberg says a lack of staff hindered him during his spell as Arsenal interim boss.

Saturday s 0-0 draw at Everton brought an end to Ljungberg s time in charge with Mikel Arteta set to take over after leaving his post as assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Unai Emery s dismissal saw various members of his staff depart Emirates Stadium with Ljungberg left to operate with a skeleton backroom team as the recruitment process continued.

Per Mertesacker stepped up to help Ljungberg, who will remain at the club in some capacity under Arteta s leadership.

I think we had six people leaving so there were no people there and you try to fill the gaps and try to do a lot of things, Ljungberg told reporters after the goalless draw at Goodison Park…
